The Jakob Collection is a private collection of contemporary art. In different fields of tension between painting, sculpture, photography, installation and media art, the Jakob Collection explores current contemporary art on a regional and international level. The collection currently comprises 44 artistic positions in approximately 100 works. With new acquisitions of contemporary art, the collection is constantly being expanded.
The main focus is on painting, contemporary art and installative media art from Berlin from the 2000s onwards. The works interlink in a complex, conceptual dialogue in analog and digital about regionalization and globalization, body and socialization, environment and social politics of the present. The goal of the collection is the constant expansion, maintenance and preservation of the inventory. The exhibits are made accessible to the public in annual theme-specific exhibitions. Parts of the collection are permanently presented in private living spaces and can be visited by appointment.
